All You Ever Need To Know About Reiki!

“Reiki can never and will never belong to just one person or one organization. Reiki is the spiritual heritage of all humanity.”

Dr. Mikao Usui

Reiki healing is a holistic healing modality that involves balancing the spiritual energy within and around us.

Simply said, Reiki is the spiritual (rei) energy (ki) – the force or the energy that is required to keep our bodies “alive”. This energy (ki) is said to flow around and through all living things.

There are times when obstructions are created in this flow. The obstructed energy flow begins creating unhealthy ki. When this happens, certain illnesses arise. The illness may manifeste as physical, mental or both. Depending upon the extent of blocks (unhealthy ki) present in the energy flow, the illness ranges from mild to severe.

A healthy mind and body means have a healthy flow of energy within and around the body. To regain the natural flow of the vital energy, the blocks must be cleared. This is done by refilling the body with healthy ki – the original energy the body was created with.

A simple way to do this is to introduce the Reiki practice into your lifestyle. There are two ways of doing this.

  • By finding a Reiki practitioner to get a Reiki healing session, and
  • Getting trained in Reiki healing and doing Self-Reiki.

The Reiki training consists of 3 levels.

  • Okuden – Level 1 where you are attuned to Reiki and can share Reiki by touch. Reiki primarily flows through the palm in this level.
  • Shoden – Level 2 where you receive advanced training and can share Reiki with self & others through thought and intentions.
  • Shinpiden – Level 3 is the highest level of formal training required. After this training, you can attune others to Reiki and teach them the Reiki healing process.

In-person vs distance Reiki

In the Reiki practice it is believed that there is no past, present or future. In other words, the past, present and future are one. This is what we learn in the second level of Reiki training too. In the advanced levels, we are taught that Reiki can be shared without any restrictions of time or space. This is called Distance Reiki.

Today’s digital era has made it possible to break free from the constraints of time and space. It is now possible to virtually take part in any event. We can now attend events being hosted on the other side of the world in real time!

The Reiki fraternity is, slowly but surely, embracing the idea that, like Distance Reiki Share, Distance Reiki Attunements are possible. The existence of the digital realm allows us to participate in a variety of events, trainings and workshops, including Reiki.

Several with in-person training, as well as through digital platforms (like Zoom), have reported the experiences to be equally effective. In fact, some have reported their experience to even more mystical from the comfort of their personal space – their home.

The main factor to acknowledge while deciding which works best for you is what resonates with you. However, there is another point to be made. Certain Reiki associations do not accept distance training as their criteria of membership. Nevertheless, Reiki is not governed by any statutory body. Hence membership to any Reiki association is not a requirement to practice & teach Reiki.

The final point I would like to make here is that Reiki is for everyone! It doesn’t matter how old you are or what beliefs you hold.

You can book a Reiki healing session with us and/or join a Reiki training workshop.
